The Rock star project we had to do where we essentially completed, yet another, webquest through the eyes of a student... was definitely busy work and not essential nor did it further my understanding in anyway.
I agree! I think it is great to give us examples of things we can give our students, but to actually have us do them is a little insulting. Obviously, we know how to go to a website and find information, because we are all college students.
I appreciate your comments and I am not at all offended. However, to clarify, this was not intended to be "busy work" or "offending"...rather a two-fold goal. One, help you to see how this type of activity plays out from a student perspective so you can think about what you will need to consider in the upcoming lesson plan. Two, give you all some scaffolded practice with Google Docs. Some need more practice than others. I would not be so quick to assume things are true with "all college students." I am surprised every semester. :-)
Again, no offense as this is the place to disagree and vent. I just wanted to clarify why we did this.
